Cindy sent me a LJ nudge. Apparently I haven't updated my LJ in 10 weeks!!! That's just plain ol' ridiculous. I guess I just don't feel like typing in this thing much now.
That's all for now.

| | The Drugs Don't Work - Ben Harper | ] | So I haven't updated this thing in awhile, a long while. Pham reminded me of this fact yesterday or the day before, and I was just sitting here so I figured that I would throw a few words down.
Christmas went well here. "Santa" got me a coffee maker and a bottle of Bailey's and Andrew and I drank while opening gifts. Got a few things from home(books, dvds, blankets, etc..) and Andrew got me a sweet bong. Talked to my family for awhile. They haven't gotten gifts from me because I was late getting them sent out, hopefully they'll call when they arrive. Hung out til mid afternoon then went over to Grant's(the shop mechanic at work) for Christmas dinner. It was a good time and actually having turkey was awesome. Andrew and I both miss being home for Christmas and we miss everyone but we did alright, held it together.
Every one of the rigs we work for at work shut down over Christmas so we've been having sort of a few days off knowing that we'd be off. It's nice. Days off start in a week. It's sort of being like having Wednesday off for you regular people, except my week's 15 days long instead of five, so I have 3 Wednesdays, and got them all off.
Andrew's moving out by the first of February, just over a month away I guess. Things just aren't really working as room mates so he's leaving and a guy from work is moving in, and Andrew will likely move in with his old roomie.
I've almost got all my bills paid off (including my mommy) and then I'm hoping to buy a new vehicle. I know Pham wants me to get a Corolla and I would look at them for sure if I was buying a car, but I'm not. I either want a truck or small SUV, or a Subaru. I don't feel the cost of a Subaru is really justified and they're a little too low for up here so I'm left with trucks and SUVs. Anybody have any suggestions let me know, see if I change my mind from what I'm thinking of now.
What else........can't think of anything else now. I'll try to update a little sooner next time. Miss you all, love you too. |

Hey All Just got home from having a few beers at Lee's place. Lee's a guy from work, we share days off so he invited me to go out with him for a couple, but the cab showed up and left just as we were walking out the door. We called back and the guy said 20 minutes, 2 hours later I walked home. Fucking cabs in this city suck, there are not enough of them, way not enough.
Andrew got here on Tuesday, got a job with Sanjel within two hours of being in town. He's out on his first job right now, we'll see what he thinks when he gets in. Things seem to be going well so far with him here. We've been doing a whole lot of nothing really. I'm on days off so I planned on doing nothing, he's been at work in the days getting paper work done and such.
Not much else is new/exciting with me. I'm off until Tuesday at 4:30pm, when I go back on call, then Wednesday(if I didn't get called out Tuesday night) I go into the shop for 8ish.
Well that's about it. Anyone ever wants to get ahold of me, email me or call me, or write me.

Just got home from Bonanza, AB. Did a big production down there, 70+ tons of cement. I'm feeling a little tired and I smell of diesel fuel, yum. Got home last night from a few days in Calgary taking down the old Freightliner Cab Over to the fab shop for retirement. Got to see Josh B. while I was there, sat around "his castle" playing XBox and drinking beer. Just a good relaxing time with a friend I hadn't seen in years, well, since like my 19 birthday, so year and a bit.
Got to ride in the cockpit of the company plane coming home. That was fun, now if only I could've flown. Maybe next time, the pilot's a pretty cool guy, odd sense of humour and more straightforward than I am. So basically he's me in 25 years.
Well, better get these stank ass clothes off and get some Zzzz's. (I'm Canadian but I totally pronounce that Zees, not Zeds, I'm still on the fence as to whether I say zed or zee normally though.)
Also, hi to Melanie, some girl who reads this for fun, and my deepest condolences on your lack of excitement in your life, it can be boring enough living my life, I can't imagine getting fun out of reading about it :P

I was at Egan's tonight(the second time) and this girl(the manager) asked me to channel surf with her, she's cute, kinda reminds me of Krista H. Of course I didn't have the nuts to say anything to her, maybe I'll go back tomorrow for lunch/supper and talk to her. Ya right, I'm drunk now, sober Barry won't say anything, drunk Barry had a chance of saying something, but pissed it away, oh well.
I go back to work tomorrow at 4pm, well, I go on call at 4 or 4:30, I forget which, 4:30 rings a bell. I wasted my days off, but not in a bad way. I slept a lot. I met a girl, Nikki, we hung out once or twice but it's not going anywhere, I'm totally alone. I like the fact that I have a job here but I hate the fact that I don't have any friends. I miss everyone back home so much, I miss my family, I miss Batty, I miss everything. |

More Scientific
You have: 77% SCIENTIFIC INTUITION and 70% EMOTIONAL INTUITION</b> |
| The graph on the right represents your place in Intuition 2-Space. As you can see, you scored above average on emotional intuition and well above average on scientific intuition.Your scientific intuition is stronger than your emotional intuition. |
|
Your Emotional Intuition score is a measure of how well you understand people, especially their unspoken needs and sympathies. A high score score usually indicates social grace and persuasiveness. A low score usually means you're good at Quake.
Your Scientific Intuition score tells you how in tune you are with the world around you; how well you understand your physical and intellectual environment. People with high scores here are apt to succeed in business and, of course, the sciences. | |
|
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 99% on Scientific |
|
You scored higher than 99% on Interpersonal |

Getting $90 ($70 with my Safeway Card) worth of groceries onto a bicycle is pretty difficult. Riding said bike is also pretty hard, but the hardest part? Getting all of that food into a mini fridge.
I'm still at the Super 8, and the company is still paying for it. I talked to Wayne the manager, it looks like I won't be able to get a place here until the first of September and he said it wouldn't be a problem. I'm going to also sign a contract for a year here and then I'll get a $1000 sign on like bonus, so that'll help.
Andrew's moving here next month and we're going to split a 2 bedroom, we all saw it coming. It'll be nice to know someone here though, besides the guys from work.
I miss all of you back home. I miss my dogs. I miss my family. I miss free food.
I don't miss unemployment. I don't miss dialup internet. |

Just sitting around now. It's just past noon and I'm headed out at 4, so I'll leave here at 3:30 or so.
Well, I'll update more when I have more free time. |

Hey All
Update time from the other coast. It looks like it's going to be a nice day here today, so I'll have to find something to do besides sit around my hotel room watching cable. Maybe I'll grab my camera and bike around town looking for interesting shots.
My computer still hasn't arrived, likely due to the striking container truck drivers in Vancouver or so they say. Hopefully it will get here soon, I have free access to this one in the lobby, but I'd rather have my own, with real messenger instead of web messenger and start downloading some tunes to listen to instead of the whirring of the ice machine.
I've been talking to Andrew and it looks like he'll be moving out here once he's done Katimavik. It makes more sense than going to Vancouver and it means I'll actually know somebody here.
I'll send more emails once my computer arrives, I promise, the space bar on this keyboard sticks and makes typing really annoying, plus the above mentioned reasons.
Anyways, off to do something, Barry |

| Last NB Update |
[Jul. 13th, 2005|02:50 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | sad | ] | So, this is likely going to be the last LJ update I make from this province in awhile. I'm going to miss NB and all the people here, especially the people I've been going to the bars with, and my regular friends. So this is a tribute to you, whether or not you read this, here it is.
Al - I didn't like you so much this year in Fredericton, but hanging out with you in SJ has been a blast, keep the group laughing.
Anthony - We should've hung out a bunch more this year but we didn't. You're a great guy and I'll miss you a WHOLE bunch, seriously. You're the best foreign friend I've had and one of the best friends I have (regardless of ethnic background) I love you.
Beth Ann - I love you, sorry you couldn't come to the backdoor tonight. Miss you.
Danielle - Thanks for all the drives home, you're a good driver and with a little practice you'll be great. I'll miss you a ton
Jesse - You and I should have had more drink-offs, but oh well. Good luck picking up the crows and such. Also, you're a lucky bastard, two HOT chicks in a row, if only we could all be so lucky.
Kelley - Good luck working in Kingston all summer, should be interesting. You should've called me once you got home from the Village of Sacks, we could have been hanging out since like April or May, I love you.
Natasha - I love you. There's not much more I can say than that, though you'll never truly understand it.
Neal - You SOB, I'll miss you and all the mother jokes. Get your head screwed on straight with the women. I'll miss the nook.
Oliver - You're awesome, should have come to the Riverview Pub last night, it was a good, low key time, we missed you.
All of the Vanier Girls - You're 5 of the most beautiful and talented women I have ever met, I'll miss you with all of my heart (and all of my stomach).
Everyone else - I love you and I'll miss you and this province.

| | Led Zeppelin - Custard Pie | ] | So, I've got one week left here in New Brunswick then I hop on a plane and travel to the other end of the country. I'm still not really that excited about it and I'm not done packing. I've gotten most of my packing done, well, most that I can do, I'm going to have to pack a bunch of stuff the last day since I'm wearing it til then.
Been hanging out a lot still with Danielle, Pham, Kelley, Jesse, Al and some others at the local bars. Going to O'Leary's tomorrow night, should be a good time. Not doing anything tonight, Danielle was too tired and I have no car so I'm stuck at home, saving money, not a bad thing since I spent a lot last night.
Going to the dentist tomorrow around noon. My tooth hurts when I drink hot or cold stuff and I'm pretty sure it's the tooth I just had a filling done to. If the filling's fallen out it'll be like the third time it's happened to a filling I got from that dentist and I'll be pretty pissed off about it. We'll see what it is.
Anyways, that's about it. Anyone wants to stop in at O'Leary's tomorrow I should be there around 9 or so. $7.25/pitcher from 9-1030. Maybe be at the bucaneer's on friday for dollar draught(9-11).

| Technically It's Wednesday Now. |
[Jun. 22nd, 2005|03:43 am] |
So, since it's Wednesday now, sorta, I'm leaving in 3 weeks. I'm not sure if that reality has kicked me "squire in tha nuts" yet, but I'm sure it will soon.
Went out tonight to the Backdoor, our usual Tuesday night place with some new faces. T'was Danielle, Kelley, Jesse and myself(the usual), plus Al and Anthony(the new faces). My first night to the BD when I wasn't driving, so I drank freely, along with buying Kelley many a drink. Afterwards we went to the Dolan Rd Irving for some grub(and to help Pham sober up a little bit) because every pizza place in SJ closes too early for our likeing.
Tomorrow should involve a lot of sleeping and then going to O'Leary's perhaps.
Bye. |

| FSJ Here I Come.....soon. |
[Jun. 17th, 2005|07:17 pm] |
Updatey super fun time!
Friday night, I'm off to ESM for a birthday gathering for Sarah Blenis. I think that's it, it's dollar draught at bucs but it's not going to work out logistically I don't think with rides and if you can't get drunk, why go to bucs on a Friday night?
I booked my flight for the 13th of July out to Fort St John. I was talking to Andrew and he's off to Burns Lake, BC this week. I looked it up and we'll be about 650km from each other so that means I should get to see sometime. I might try to convince him to move to FSJ in stead of Vancouver when he's done and get a job there with me for awhile. I don't think he'll take me up on that since it's probably going to be ass cold in the winter as opposed to the rainy winters of Vancouver.
So ya, I'm out of here on the 13th, so anything you want to say to me in person, do to me in person, etc should be done soon. Things like punching me in the face are hard to do online or through the postal service so get them done while you can.
Off to ESM. |

| Off I Go. |
[Jun. 15th, 2005|02:56 am] |
So I received a phone call on Friday and another one on Monday from a company called Sanjel(www.sanjel.com) about a job. The Friday call seemed like a mini interview, some general questions and the woman asked me to fax her my Drivers Abstract. She had gotten my resume off of a job website that I'd posted on way back in December I guess. Then on Monday I got a call from a different guy from the same company and he asked me a few more questions and then told me that I have a job. I'll be driving tractor-trailer loads of powder cement in Fort Saint John, BC in a month or so.
I'll be spending the next month getting things done like dentist and doctor appointments, hanging out with friends, packing/storing my stuff, killing time to hope my system is clear of drugs, and whatever else comes up.
I guess that's the biggest news I've got. I'm trying to get off on a speeding ticket, had to plea today and my trial's next week, but I doubt I'll be getting off on this one. The cop that ticketed me is going to be there for sure, so I won't be getting off on that like I did last time, so I'm really shooting for the pity case. You know, I was just a delivery driver trying to make a few dollars and it was really busy type deal, I really doubt it will work, but it's worth a try. I could always try the they let Mike Jackson off, I haven't even touched any little boys, why am I even here? approach.
Been going out with Danielle, Jesse and Kelley (and some others) almost every night for the past week or so, had some good times been to a few different bars. Went to Buc's tonight for wings (Hot means HOT, seriously, I like hot things, but these were painful, start with a mild or medium) then we went to the back door for toonie tuesday. Good times, rather uneventful though.
And that's about it I think. |
